The Lion and the Thief

This week, two questions arrived wearing two coats. How do we use spiritual words to avoid what we feel? And where does that hide in our days? Two cards answered. The Page of Swords, eyes in the clouds, her sword resting point down. She has found a beautiful vocabulary. Anger becomes ego. Grief becomes attachment. Every word sounds wise, and every word is a way of not feeling. Then the Seven of Swords, head bowed, slipping away with the swords held to her chest. That is theft, but the only person robbed is the thief. And then there is Strength. [softly] She is calm too. But she is not above the wild thing, and she is not walking away from it. She is touching it. When we made her clip, Bob watched it and said the lion is subtly quite alive, and listening. That is the whole difference. A bypassed feeling goes still because it has been left behind. A tamed one stays alive, because it has been met. So the test is not whether you are peaceful. The thief is peaceful. The test is whether the wild thing in you is still there, still breathing. You may find it has been listening the whole time.
