When Calm Becomes a Fortress: The Mercy of The Tower

    About This Reading

Explore The Tower in tarot as a catalyst for breaking spiritual bypassing, dismantling the False Personality, and finding what cannot be destroyed.

    The Tower.

Look how beautiful it is, every arch carved, every band of gold. A tower built of sacred ideas is still a tower.

You ask what you are trying not to feel when you reach for calm. Usually the feeling itself, and the fear that it will be too much and will not pass. Calm that comes that fast is not peace. It is a wall going up.

Lightning finds what was built to keep something out. Two have already fallen free. Inside, at the base, the fire is still burning.

Jung would say that what you refuse to feel does not leave. It goes down to the cellar and keeps the fire going.

In the Fourth Way these walls are called buffers, soft padding that spares you the shock of seeing yourself.

The Sanskrit word is Pralaya, the dissolution that clears the ground.

So the next time it rises, do not reach. Let it stay for three breaths, and feel where it sits in your body. What opens is not collapse. It is room.
